Live Well-TJ

Live Well.

London band, Palace, played in Melbourne on the same night as your going away. I couldn’t attend their gig for obvious reasons.

Listening to ‘Live Well’ on the Monday resonated heavily after a somber goodbye over that weekend.

Be safe, be true and I’ll think of you
Live well, you reap what you sow
The future is bright if we can ebb with the flow
You’re something, I’m nothing, we were everything

It’s rare in life you meet someone who finds such positivity in moments that others only glance over.

The top floor at McDougall quickly became the safest place I knew;

The thudding footsteps up and down the stairs
The shameless, off-key piano

The dinner dates and wall to wall house parties
The emotional turmoil on Sundays

The head butts upon an opponent
The hugs in a time of mourning

Monty’s mantra of good people making good football clubs was not lost on either of us. It was always bigger than football, and bigger than us.

The palpable connection you share with so many individuals is vastly unique. It’s inspiring.

The gravity of change will be daunting. Let your ambition, opportunism and uncanny ability to connect steer you right.

Live well. See you soon.

Tom.
